"I didn't want anything called Snickerdoodle in my house."

A quick note on two important tales:

1) My great love of the cold, frozen north began with Patricia M. Scarry's Pierre Bear.

2) One of my very favorite New Yorker fiction podcasts:
Louse Erdrich reads Lorrie Moore's short story "Dance in America." When I first heard it, I listened to it twice in a row. It is really very good. Listen here as soon as you can.

Both of these stories depict home and family life beautifully.
