Click and clack.

(Left to right: the hot dog vendors outside of MoMA, taken from a few flights up; four teeth, some cracked; festive flags nearby).

Ack! July is flying by! In some ways this is good: the heat has been unbearable, and I want to see the hot days behind me. In other respects, it's a shame that the summer is going quickly: I need to prep for a lot of travel in the fall, and I hate to see the relaxed attitude of summer finish so fast. A few weekends ago O and T came over for dinner. We realized that it was the two year anniversary since we'd gotten Sprout. We remembered because O and T came over for dinner that night, too. We were casually going to swing by the dog shelter and see who was there, then go to the grocery store, then come home and cook. Instead, we came home with a dog and no groceries! Oops!

Last weekend, I was thrilled by a last-minute surprise visit from Wayne and Annamaria! It was so awesome to see them...it'd been over a year since our last rendezvous on the west coast. Owing to the heat and coordinating a variety of peoples' plans, we kept everything pretty low key. We had a delicious brunch, got to sit around and chat a lot, and visited MoMA and F.A.O. Schwarz. It was nice just to hang out and not worry about running around all over the place.

This morning, armed with the bounty from the CSA, a group of us cooked a delicious brunch. Well, to clarify, I helped chop some Swiss chard while others handled the real cooking responsibilities. Tonight, we're off to another friends' dinner, bearing a peach and blueberry cobbler. I hope I don't eat it all on the way over.
