AN AUDIBLY-BUZZING NEON SIGN: "OYSTER BAR"

1) Last week I saw Icelandic pop sensation Bjork at Radio City Music Hall. It was fantastic.

2) WCL has installed himself in some remote northern town for the summer. Already he reports the ghost of a vengeful madame in an old hotel (once a brothel?) called the Golden Northern. Apparently, if she is not appeased, she makes trouble. Her name is Lydia.

3) I was walking down Ave. A and saw: a host of Domenican Catholics all dressed up swinging incense around and groaning under the weight of a huge float overflowing with flowers topped with some saint's statue. A few blocks down a police car roared by slowly. It was the leading escort for some 300 Israeli motorcyclists following behind, flags a flyin'.
