I froze in Grand Central for a sum total of 10 minutes. About 200 of us did. It was a stupid gimmick, but when we were done, the bystanders clapped. A German man asked us what "the story" was. We asked him to take our picture. At the same time there was a squash tournament at Grand Central. A glass cube had been constructed and framed by sets of bleachers filled with people who also applauded at the correct time. And I've been sick. The only appropriate herbal tea they had at the grocery store was a non FDA approved just for kids tea called "throat coat" with a picture of a cartoon giraffe wearing an exaggeratedly long scarf around his neck. Each bag has a fun tidbit on it. Sometimes it's a fact about herbs, sometimes it's a riddle, sometimes it's a fact about giraffes. The average stride of an adult giraffe is about 15 feet. Can that be right!? To shake the sickness, I loafed around all day, drifting in and out of sleep, and reading David Lynch's new book, which is pretty much the same as drifting in and out of sleep. By that I just mean pretty relaxing and easygoing.
