INDEPENDENCE

For the 4th I visited our nation’s first capital, none other than Philadelphia, where I was treated to lots of empty streets, a very not empty park, and the promise of Sir Elton John somewhere beyond the sea of pyrotechnic effects, pretzel/lemonade stands, frat boys, filthy little kids, and the twisted wreckage of lawn chairs. Some people had the cutest white bulldog named Marvin, who was friendly enough but who unleashed a puddle of drool that went all the way from my knee down into my sock. Next time, the Mutter Museum is certainly on the agenda. Cross-sections of human brains. YES!
